CORPORATE POLICY OF INTEGRITY

Identifact's mission is to certify the veracity, reliability and accuracy of online news sources, news organizations, and reporters on a world-wide level. The honesty and objectivity of our fact-checking services are vital to the relationship that we hold with our users, and therefore vital to the very existence of the Identifact organization.


In order to maintain the trust of the public, it is the policy of Identifact to abstain from any and all forms of political involvement and advocacy in the name of the Identifact organization, including:

  • Providing support to political candidates through financial contribution, fundraising, endorsement and/or participation in other campaign activities.

  • Supporting/opposing public causes or issues by displaying signage, or through participation in marches, rallies, events, or other demonstrations aimed at influencing legislation

  • Engaging in political activities that might otherwise constitute a potential conflict of interest or the appearance of conflict.


Additionally, Identifact recognizes that the ability to deliver on its central mission of fair and non-partisan fact-checking rests on the commitment of Identifact staff to individually uphold the highest ideals objectivity. As a result, Identifact staff are prohibited from engaging in political involvement or advocacy activities, both inside and outside the workplace. Individuals are prohibited from engaging in the political activities described herein, and engagement in any of the specified activities constitutes cause for termination from employment at Identifact. Identifact employees may not:

  • Support political candidates through financial contribution, fundraising, endorsement and/or participation in other campaign activities

  • Seek public office

  • Publicly support/oppose public causes or issues by wearing insignia or displaying signage on their person or on their personal property, or through participation in marches, rallies, events, or other demonstrations aimed at influencing legislation

  • Engage in political activities that might otherwise constitute a potential conflict of interest or the appearance of conflict

Identifact respects your right to vote, and nothing in this policy is intended to infringe upon your right to register your private vote on any issue or candidate. Should Identifact staff have any questions as to their potential engagement in political activities not already specified, s/he is advised to contact the Identifact leadership board for clarification. The Identifact leadership board will determine if a conflict is present, and will take actions, including project reassignment, to remediate any potential or actual conflicts.
